Nicole Kidman’s estranged eldest daughter Isabella Cruise has gone from sharing cute cartoons to downright dark artworks on her social media within a few short years – and her worried mum is taking notice.
According to our sources, Nicole, 53, felt “heartsick” when the 28-year-old began showing off a much edgier side of her creativity, especially given how she was never able to “rescue” Bella from her father Tom Cruise’s Scientology religion.
“Nicole knows the second she speaks out against Scientology it will give her ex and her older kids, Bella and Connor, even more reason to shut her out, so she’ll never say anything publicly, but when she saw this new form of artwork come out, Nicole’s worst fears were realised,” says our source.
“She can’t exactly call Bella up because her kids have distanced themselves. Her only hope is sending her a light, breezy email and hope she gets a reply. It’s like walking on a tightrope.”
Bella, who lives with her husband Max Parker in a modest home in London’s south, where she commutes to the city centre to Scientology’s UK HQ regularly, spends her spare time painting and sketching, and has released a range of T-shirts under the banner Bella Kidman Cruise – despite “rarely” speaking to her mother.
Among Bella’s more confronting artwork is a distorted image of a female form and a haunting collage of ghoulish faces.
“Nicole desperately needs reassurance that Bella is OK,” says a source.
“She’s worried about that particular picture because she knows Bella and Max have been trying to start a family.
“Nicole knows that pain all too well and she wants to be there for Bella, who is clearly troubled by something, rather than having to gauge how she’s feeling by checking on her Instagram. Nicole refuses to give up on the idea that they might be close some day.”
