Such is the case when eyeing the red carpet of this year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards, with Australian actresses Samara Weaving, Abbie Cornish and Margot Robbie leading the pack of industry veterans for their respective film appearances.

However, this evening, among the glitz and the glam, our eyes are firmly set on Nicole Kidman. Nicole, with husband Keith Urban standing ever so supportively by her side, is up for Actress In A TV Movie or Miniseries – an accolade she is predicted to take home.

It’s been an exciting, yet busy couple of months for Nicole, with the mum-of-four fronting awards show after awards show thanks to her gong-winning role in the TV mini-series Big Little Lies.

Just this month, Nicole took out the Golden Globe for Best Actress In A Mini-series or Motion Picture for TV for her portrayal as BLL‘s Celeste Wright.

Upon being awarded her Golden Globe award, Nicole’s powerful speech was one that hit close to home with this awards season being one all about women speaking up against adversity – be it domestic violence, sexual harassment and misconduct or male chauvinism.

“This character that I played represents something that is the centre of our conversation right now: abuse,” she said.

“I do believe, and I hope, we can elicit change through the stories we tell and the way we tell them. Let’s keep the conversation alive.”
