After persistent whispers about trouble in their marriage, Nicole Kidman has given the biggest sign yet that she’s ready to leave husband Keith Urban – by drafting in the divorce lawyers!
And not just any divorce lawyer, either.
Woman’s Day can reveal that Nicole has met with Jonathan Wolfe, a high-profile lawyer known in celeb circles as ‘the Custody King’ and the man Katie Holmes hired to help her divorce Tom Cruise.
An insider says, “Nicole flew to New York last month to meet with Jonathan for three hours. She said she’s not taking any drastic action as yet but wanted to know where she stood in light of a prenup being signed.”
The top-secret meeting comes after intense scrutiny over the state of Nicole and Keith’s 11-year marriage, prompted by reports they’ve been fighting constantly and had even been to marriage boot camp to try and salvage their relationship.
But our insider says that the actress has prepared for the worst-case scenario, adding, “Nicole was extremely impressed with how Katie’s divorce and custody battle was handled and she really liked Jonathan.
Jonathan helped Katie divorce Tom Cruise.
“She’s told friends that she’ll probably hire him as she feels confident that he could help her win the battle – no matter how nasty it gets and how much Keith fights it.”
Just weeks ago, after a string of rows over their clashing schedules and trust issues between them, it’s believed the actress, 50, took their daughters Sunday, nine, and Faith, seven, and left Keith behind at their Nashville mansion.
“Nicole will be in California for the next few months filming Big Little Lies season two, and she asked Keith not to follow her,” a source reveals exclusively to Woman’s Day.
“The sad reality is their marriage has been on the rocks for months now, and Nicole can’t take it anymore.”
Indeed, the usually affectionate pair hasn’t been seen together in public in almost three months, when they appeared tense and distant at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on January 21.

Nicole stepped out solo at the 2018 Oscars.
“There have been a lot of rumours in the US since then about marriage troubles. Usually they negate any bad press by appearing on a red carpet and going over the top with public displays of affection, but there’s been none of that this time,” says our source. “That’s what has people thinking that a split could really happen.”
For most of this year, Nic has been in New York filming The Goldfinch while Keith, 50, has played festivals and bar gigs in the American Midwest.

“They were together for a few awards shows, but for the most part, they’ve been ships in the night,” says our source.
Now, with friends fearing a divorce announcement any day, Woman’s Day can reveal exactly how the A-list duo would divide their assets – and their $266 million fortune.
Before they tied the knot in 2006, Nicole got Keith to sign a bizarre prenup entitling him to $780,000 for every year that they’re together, and agreeing to joint custody of their children.
They love a red carpet appearance together but Nic and Keith’s last public outing was at the SAG Awards back in January.
But the actress apparently added an iron-clad clause declaring that if former cocaine addict Keith uses illegal drugs or drinks excessively, she doesn’t have to give him a dime.
“Nicole laid down the law in no uncertain terms as soon as Keith popped the question,” says an insider. “She had already been through one major Hollywood divorce with Tom and she wanted to protect herself.”
