While “Birdman” won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, it was star Naomi Watts who made a flying entrance.
As the excited cast made their way onto the stage, Naomi took a tumble as she stumbled over Emma Stone’s breathtaking floor-sweeping sheer skirt, and Emma’s reaction was priceless!
After a fit of giggles, Naomi always the professional, recovered quickly.
“Thanks to the Screen Actors Guild. This is a wonderful experience, so collaborative,” she said.
The ensemble cast were absolutely delighted to win the top award, beating the favourite ‘Boyhood’.
Edward Norton introduced Michael Keaton who had some wise words.
“Thank you, this is very, very exciting. It’s the ultimate team sport what we do for a living. To look at all the great actors out there. These guys are tremendous. I’m proud to be a part of this group.”
Emma was also nominated for another award in the Supporting Actor category but was beaten by Patricia Arquette.
“This really is absolutely amazing, and it’s so incredible to look out and see so many wonderful actors. We’re so grateful,” she said.
Edward Norton was incredibly humble and was met with cheers as he told the audience: “It’s fun to be an actor, but as everyone in this room knows it’s a privilege to be a working actor. And it’s a triple privilege if you get to work on something you love.”
Other big winners of the night included Julianne Moore for Best Actress and Eddie Redmayne for Best Actor.
