Moana Hope has used her platform to highlight Moebius Syndrome Awareness Day in honour of her sister Livinia, more commonly known as Vinny, who has the condition.
The former AFL player and Survivor star penned a tribute on her Instagram dedicated to her dear sister, which she a trio of photos.
In the first snap, Moana has her arms around Vinny whilst the other two show Vinny solo, smiling at the camera.
“Today is Moebius Syndrome Awareness Day 💜💙,” Moana began in her caption. “So I want to take a second to shine a light on this beautiful young lady. You are perfect the way you are 👸🏽.”
The 33-year-old also called out Vinny’s Inspiration Foundation in her caption to shed light on their work.
Moana is very protective of her family, and in November 2021, when her sister and “high risk” mother were diagnosed with COVID, she did everything in her power to take care of them.
She announced the news in an Instagram post with her sister and mother alongside a detailed caption.
“Both my Mum and Vinny got Covid. We honestly weren’t sure how my mum would go, with all of her ongoing health issues and being classified as high-risk cases,” Moana wrote.
“And Vinny, we also weren’t sure on how her immune system would hold up, and she just didn’t understand what was actually happening to her or able to properly verbalise her symptoms.”
“Both were very sick, and we had some scary moments, but both we’re so bloody resilient, and they are okay and made it through. 🙏🏽 Vinny is having a couple more days off to rest and recover then she will be back at school, and we can’t wait to see them both ❤️,” she wrote.
Moana, who shares daughter Svea with wife Isabella Carlstrom, revealed she is pregnant with their second child via IVF and a sperm donor a month after her family’s health scare.
Since sharing her news, she has posted updates on her growing baby belly, and last week, pondered how long she would be able to play with her toddler on the stairs.
Paired with a picture of Moana waiting patiently for her daughter to crawl up the staircase, she wrote, “Hello bump ☺️ 19 weeks today, and I’m just not sure how much longer I can play safety mum up and down the stairs with a bladder that never ends. 🤷🏽♀️😆🤰🏽 #mumlife #19weeks #svea #baby #monashivf.”
