In the wake of the shock news that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have split up, many fans have been left wondering where it all went wrong.
After a mere eight months of marriage, it seems the pair truly knew that things were irreparable to announce their separation so soon.
But that’s not for lack of trying – in fact, it seems Miley was actively attempting to address the alternatives, a new report has revealed.
According to sources who spoke to TMZ, Miley offered to go to great lengths to save the couple’s marriage, even suggesting they see a marriage counsellor.
Indeed according to the report, the pair were struggling with “various issues” for months, and Miley even suggested the two of them to go into therapy, as well as taking other steps to make their marriage work.
“He didn’t come close to meeting her half way,” the source said.
Sources say Miley offered to do marriage counselling with Liam.

The report comes just days after their split was publicly announced via a rep who told PEOPLE: “Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time.”
They continued: “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers.”

The Aussie actor penned: “Hi all, Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward.”
He continued: “This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and Love.”

As for Miley, while the singer and actress was spotted sharing a rather steamy kiss with pal and also recently separated Kaitlynn Carter, it seems the former Disney star is doing some of her own lamenting.
Sharing a series of images to her Instagram account of herself standing atop a mountain, Miley penned: “Like the mountain I am standing on top of, which was once under water, connected with Africa, change is inevitable. The Dolomites were not created over night, it was over millions of years that this magnificent beauty was formed.
“My dad always told me ‘Nature never hurries but it is always on time’…. it fills my heart with peace and hope KNOWING that is true.”
Miley shared a series of cryptic posts to Instagram which appeared to address the break up.
