When Meghan Trainor was approached to become a judge on Australian Idol, the US hit-maker said yes straight away.
The singer says sheโs always wanted the opportunity to help others pursue their dreams.
โWhen my team asks whatโs on my bucket list, I say to be on TV and help others with their dreams,โโshe tells TV WEEK.
โWhen they told me Australian Idol was looking into me, it was a no-brainer.โ

This international hit maker is ready to find Australiaโs newest singer talent on Idol.

Her first radio interview in Australia was with Kyle Sandilands, whoโs now a fellow judge, and who she calls her buddy.
โAustralia has had a big place in my heart, because when I landed here in 2015 or 2016, I had a number one song in America and I was like, โOh my God โ itโs going global!โโ Meghan says.
โThe first radio interview I did was with Kyle [Sandilands]. We did a bunch of skits together and I thought, โI hope he remembers me.โ

Will you be tuning in?

Meghan even played Kyle her latest single, Made You Look, before it was officially released.
โHe was like, โThatโs a hit โ Iโm going to play this first,โโ she says.
โI thought he was just gassing me, but he was right. Iโm so grateful he cared to listen to it, but I was also like, โWell, you put it on the radio.โโ
Thanks to support in high places, and a viral TikTok trend, Meghanโs song has been playing non-stop across all mediums.
โSo Kyleโs been my hero and cheerleader the whole time,โ the star says.

โSheโs to my left on the judging panel and is my new bestie in life,โ she enthuses.
โI canโt imagine life without her now. Sheโs so funny and cool. When we were doing photo shoots, sheโd be shy and Iโd just be trying to cheer her on from the side.โ
Participating in the audition tour meant covering serious ground across Australia. She went to Perth, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne and even Alice Springs.
She says her favourite spot was Simpsons Gap in the West MacDonnell Ranges near Alice Springs.
โIโve never been to a place so beautiful,โ she says.
โThat was one of my favourite moments for sure.โ

Meghan says she wants to help rising stars get their start where she had hers: โin the US.โ
(IMAGE: Seven)Meghan has set herself an unusual personal goal on Idol: to have a second child with husband Daryl Sabara.
โIโm trying to get pregnant โ not in front of the cameras, but itโs a goal for 2023,โ she says with a laugh.
The singer is also excited to return to Australia to complete the show and raise her son Riley, whoโs one, here for two months.
โIโm excited to show my whole family โ including my dad, whoโs coming to Australia for the first time,โ she says.

โThere are some really special people coming on the show,โ she shares.
โI tell them right away, โYou have a chance at winning; youโre perfect,โโ she says with a laugh.
โThereโs already crazy good talent that Iโve said to my team that if they donโt win, weโre signing them.โ
