Along with Jennifer Aniston, actress Marion Cotillard was another female causality dragged into the fallout over Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s shock divorce announcement yesterday.
Only guilty of being an Oscar-winning actress starring opposite Pitt, Cotillard has been unfairly slammed in the past 24 hours with speculation that she caused the breakup after she and Brad had an affair on the set of their film, First Allied.
But in a recent Instagram post the 40-year-old French actress set the record straight for what she says will be her “first and only reaction” to the divorce rumours.
In the lengthy post the star talked about her happy relationship with actor Guillaume Canet, who is the father of the couple’s son, Marcel. She also revealed she’s again expecting with Canet while quashing the speculation.
Her statement read:
“This is going to be my first and only reaction to the whirlwind news that broke 24 hours ago and that I was swept up into.
I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously but as this situation is spiralling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up.
Firstly, many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need.
Secondly to those who have indicated that I am devastated, I am very well thank you. This crafted conversation isn’t distressing.
And to all the media and the haters who are quick to pass judgment, I sincerely wish you a swift recovery.
Finally, I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment.
With all my love
Marion
So, in short, Marion would like to be excused from this conversation, and we tend to agree. She can even take Jen with her on her way out.
