Hearts shattered across the world over the weekend when it was revealed that Hollywood IT couple Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus had called time on their marriage.
Miley was first to react publicly to the split with a cryptic post on Instagram, but now, Liam has also broken his silence.
Approached by Daily Mail Australia and asked about the break up, Liam seemingly alluded to how difficult the situation had been for him with a coy answer.
“You don’t understand what it’s like,” the Hunger Games actor said. “I don’t want to talk about it, mate.”
Wild child Miley, who was snapped embroiled in a steamy pash with Brody Jenner’s ex-wife Kaitlynn Carter, appeared to have a few more words to say on the matter though – albeit in cryptic form.
“Don’t fight evolution, because you will never win,” she captioned a photo of herself standing on a mountain.
“Like the mountain I am standing on top of, which was once under water, connected with Africa, change is inevitable. The Dolomites were not created over night, it was over millions of years that this magnificent beauty was formed.
“My dad always told me ‘Nature never hurries but it is always on time’…. it fills my heart with peace and hope KNOWING that is true.”
According to TMZ, Miley and Liam actually split around June, despite the break up news officially being announced over the weekend.
The US publication is reporting that Miley attempted to salvage their marriage with therapy but Liam didn’t want a bar of it.
“He didn’t come close to meeting her half way,” a source told TMZ.

On Sunday (Australian time), a rep told US media outlet PEOPLE that “Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time.”
“Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers,” the statement continued.
“They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”
Miley and Liam met in 2008 on the set of The Last Song, a romantic movie based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks.
They went public with their relationship in 2010 and became engaged in 2012, but broke it off a year later and then reunited in 2015 before their low-key wedding in December 2018.
