Music icon Kylie Minogue is reportedly moving home to Australia after living in the UK for 30 years and fans are thrilled.
But will the 53-year-old’s partner of three years, Paul Solomons, agree to relocate with her?
A source has claimed that the Can’t Get You Out Of My Head songstress has been considering returning to her home country for a while now.
So where does that leave Paul in the equation?
After decades based in the UK, Kylie’s homecoming would mean being able to spend more time with family, especially as international travel remains limited by COVID-19.
“This year, when she was in Australia for an extended period due to travel restrictions, it gave her time to think about where she wants to be based,” the source told UK outlet The Mirror.
“She wants to see more of her family in the times when she isn’t travelling, and so she will use Australia as her base.”
And according to reports, Kylie is further along in the process of relocating than any of us realised.
She has supposedly already changed the service address for four of her businesses to address in Hawthorn, Melbourne, ahead of a potential move.
The Mirror reports that her residential address on business documents has also changed recently.
It’s been many long years since Kylie called Australia home, though she visits regularly when the world isn’t facing a global pandemic.
Her family all live here, including her parents Carol and Ron, siblings Brendan and Dannii, and her nephew Ethan, Dannii’s son.
Kylie recently spent 10 months in Australia amid the pandemic, before retuning to the UK with boyfriend Paul.
But his family are based in the UK, where he has been the creative director at British GQ and GQ style magazine since 2001.
His responsibilities there would likely make it difficult for Paul to relocate with Kylie if she did decide to make a more permanent move home to Australia.
“Paul’s a Welshman. But he’s been in London for almost 20 years,” Kylie said in an interview for Jessie Ware’s Table Manners podcast last September.
“There’s just not going to be an Australian home.”
Though she sounded convinced at the time, has something changed that has made her reconsider her stance on an “Australian home”?
It’s possible that Paul has agreed to make the move with her, especially given that Kylie would still make regular trips back to the UK.
The 53-year-old still has a massive fan base Down Under and is beloved by generations of Aussies, as is her sister Dannii Minogue.
But the source said that even if Kylie returns and makes Australia her permanent home, she’ll still spend plenty of time in the UK, which she has come to love.
“This won’t really change anything in Kylie’s life, apart from where she has chosen to call her home,” they added.
“Her love for London and the UK remains undiminished and she will still be here a lot.”
So will Paul head Down Under with Kylie, or could he remain in the UK while she estalishes a more permanent base in Australia? Only time will tell.
