When Kylie Minogue jetted home from London recently, the internet was alight with speculation she could be joining Ru Paul’s Drag Race Down Under as a judge.
But those closer to Kylie say she’s back in Melbourne for the most special occasion of all – her wedding!
Kylie, 52, and her longtime partner, Welsh British GQ artistic director Paul Solomons, 46, snuck into town recently, secretly undergoing hotel quarantine before being spotted out and about together.
Her promoter Michael Gudinski confirmed she “is vibing to be home… She’s ecstatic to see family and she’s going to stay in Australia for a while.”
Around the same time as she was reunited with her parents Ron and Carol, and sister Dannii Minogue, Paul’s family were crowing about rumours the couple of three years are engaged.
His stepmother Gloria, speaking from the family home in South Wales, told the UK Daily Mail “she is very nice. I’m thrilled they’re engaged. It’s very exciting. But I’m sorry, I can’t tell you any more because I’ve been told not to. I respect my son and Kylie too much.”
While the pop princess has been at pains to deny the report, our insider says it’s “simply because she wanted to keep her secret to just family for a little while longer.”
But the cat’s out of the bag big time in Melbourne, where witnesses have even reported seeing Dannii, 49, leaving a local couture designer clutching a large dress bag.
“There’s no way Kylie would get married without Dannii by her side,” says a source. “Those two have been thick as thieves since they were kids and she’s a shoo-in for maid of honour.”
The source adds, “I heard Kylie wanted a really low-key wedding once she realised Paul was the one. But now she’s back in Melbourne, plans are snowballing a bit.”
“She’s totally caught up in the moment and thrilled to be home. Paul is determined to give her the wedding of her dreams, whether it’s intimate and just family or the who’s who of Australian society.”

Sources believe there will be a nod to Kylie’s breast cancer battle in 2005 when she was 36.
“It’s going to be very emotional. She’s waited what feels like a lifetime for this beautiful man, and nearly didn’t survive long enough to meet him,” says our insider. “She’s so happy it’s all worked out and acutely aware it could have gone in a much different direction.”
Marrying Paul will be the happily ever after for the unlucky in love star. It’s believed she was still nursing her wounds from splitting up with fiance Joshua Sasse in 2017 when she met Paul and fell for him despite her plan to avoid dating.
“She was feeling very bruised and vulnerable,” a source said at the time.
In the end, trusting her judgement has paid off. “It’s going great, it’s going fabulous,” she said of their romance.
“Just when you think, ‘Will it ever happen?’ it came along and surprised me.”
