Now, the Studio 10 host has returned to work for the first time since his death and has opened up about adjusting to living without the love of her life.

Sitting with co-hosts Angela Bishop, Sarah Harris, Joe Hildebrand and Denise Drysdale, KAK thanked them and her wellwishers for the support she’s received since losing her beloved husband of 35 years.

“It was a shock because I thought I would really have John for many, many, many years to come and a lot of things happened very quickly so it was a terrible shock,” she confessed.

Kerri-Anne remarked how there had always been a “next step” with John, especially after his fall three years ago, which left him paralysed.

“After he had the accident there was always next, get breathing, get eating, which wheelchair do you get, which rehab, so there was always a next and all of a sudden there was no next,” KAK told the panel.

“You’re in this black hole, it’s so dense, not even light can get out.

“But that said John and I have been a team for too many years, so many years and we were always together, we thought as two and now there’s only one.”

Kerri-Anne then turned to her co-host Angela Bishop, who lost her husband at age 54 in 2017 when he succumbed to a rare form of cancer.

“When I was going through this…the hole it leaves in your life is so painful,” KAK told Angela. “For you to have to go through that and have a beautiful daughter.”

Earlier this month, Kerri-Anne bid farewell to her husband at his funeral held at Woollahra’s All Saint’s church.

The television personality was surrounded by friends and family, including her Studio 10 co-hosts who all adhered to the bright dress code as John reportedly “hated black.”
