Kathy Griffin says Ellen DeGeneres has a mean streak

Ellen DeGeneres lives by the mantra "be kind to everyone" but now fellow comedienne Kathy Griffin is lashing out at saying that the talk show host can be cruel.

Kathy Griffin has released a new book Celebrity Run-Ins: My A-Z Index and the funny lady isn’t laughing about her thoughts on beloved personality, Ellen.

The 56-year-old shared a story of a “daytime talk show host” that has a “mean streak that everyone knows about.”

Kathy then confirmed she was talking about the Finding Dory star.

Kathy, who claims she was banned from the talk show in 2006, also alleges that Ellen managed to get her kicked out of her backstage dressing room at the Emmys.

“I can’t prove it,” she mused. “I heard she got me kicked out.”

“My issue with Ellen is simple,” she said.

“You know, the guys in comedy are so good about sticking together. I feel sad that women don’t support each other the way the guys do. Joan [Rivers] and I would talk about this all the time. Patriarchy pits us against each other.”

But Kathy believes the next generation are learning from the past.

“You look at the younger women like Amy Schumer and Lena Dunham, they’ve got production companies, and they’re getting stuff done.”

While Kathy’s comments may come as surprise, it’s not the first time “TV’s nicest personality” has faced claims alleging she’s rude.

Dan Tobin, the blogger behind Surgical Strikes worked as a writer’s assistant on her sitcom The Ellen Show in 2001, and remembers a far different Ellen to what the public sees.

“I don’t know how Ellen treats her current writers, but I can tell you about how she treated the previous batch: Like sh–.”

He claimed that Ellen hissed at them several times to write her funnier jokes.

“We’d watch her in rehearsals, smiling and winning us over with her charm and comic timing. Then the director would yell cut, her face would fall, and she’d level a glare at the writers. ‘Why do you keep writing these unfunny jokes?’ she’d hiss.”

Ellen is beloved by fans and Hollywood stars alike.

While Ellen is certainly an unsuspecting character in Kathy’s tales, this isn’t the first celebrity to be hit with allegations from the new book.

Infamous for her sharp tongue and throwing shade, the comedienne also fired shots at Britney Spears.

“I actually appeared in her Vegas show,” Kathy revealed earlier this month during an interview with Larry King.

“She has someone every night come up, and they put a harness on me, and I was her sex slave for a song that she sings called Freakshow … I’ve known her since she was 16 — so I thought, at the end, we’re onstage, it’s a triumphant moment for really both of us.”

Continuing, she recalled, “And then I thought, she’s going to want to say, ‘Good to see you again,’ and I say, ‘Brit, it’s so great to see you.’”

“She didn’t know who I was.”

“Then her gay backup dancer from heaven said, ‘Kathy Griffin.’ And she said, ‘Give it up for Kathy, y’all!’ And that’s all I ask, Britney.”
