Kate Ritchie is mourning the passing of one of her closest and most special companions – her dog Mac.
The Australian actress took to her Instagram account on Tuesday evening to share the heartbreaking news, penning a beautiful tribute to her four-legged friend, along with a gorgeous photo of him.
In her caption, the mum-of-one began: “You were so patient. Trying to tell us for a while now it was time for you to go and today you did..”
She continued to thank her pup for bringing so much joy to her, and undoubtedly her daughter Mae’s life.
“For having the softest ears and being the best lawn pillow anyone could ask for. For never hurting a fly and for always weeing like a girl and never having any qualms about it #norshouldyou,” Kate wrote.
“Thank you too for being so brave this past year and for accepting aging far better than the rest of us”
The actress ended the post by bringing it back to what was most important.
“Mostly Mac, thank you for being one of the first to teach Mae the art and beauty of friendship.. It was wonderful to watch,” she wrote.
“Enjoy the peace Maccy Moo. You’ve earned it xxx.”
Kate and Mac would have shared plenty of happy memories.

Another supportive message read: “I’m so so sorry Kate you and your family must be heart broken what a beautiful boy 💙 such a sad time for you all xx.”
Suffice to say we absolutely know the heartbreak that comes when our furry friends pass away, so we’re sending Kate lots of love ourselves.

Kate has had a busy few months of late. As well as her Nova radio show, the actress attended the 2019 ACRAS in October.
For the glitzy event, Kate opted for a breathtaking black strapless gown, featuring sheer detailing and a fitted bodice – absolutely stunning!
