It’s a collaboration that’s been years in the making.
And now, producer Timbaland has confirmed long-gestating rumours that former couple Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake are working together on a new song.
The exciting revelation was made during a taping of the US ABC singing competition, Boy Band, when the hosts of Pop University podcast Maddie Lazer and Hannah Rowston approached Timbaland about a possible ‘Justney’ duet (FYI that’s Justin and Britney).
“Yes, it’s coming. It’s coming,” Timbaland replied.
Timbaland – who’s worked with Justin on several songs including, Cry Me a River, which is said to be about his breakup with Brit – first sparked rumours that a collaboration between the exes was in the works back in April when he liked several Instagram pics of Britney and Justin.
Plus, fans pointed out that Justin’s mum, Lynn Harless, recently started following Britney on Instagram and liked several throwback photos of the former couple.
Hmm, sounds like we aren’t the only ones feeling nostalgic.
Meanwhile Britney and Justin, who dated from 1999 to 2002, have both gone on the record saying that they’re totally down for a musical reunion.
Back in August 2016, Britney revealed to Most Requested Live With Romeo that she would love to collaborate with her ex.
“Justin Timberlake is very good,” she said at the time.
And, Justin’s response was the best.
“Sure! Absolutely, absolutely,” he told E! News*.
“I’m accessible, give us a call!”
Sounds like a new song is on the horizon. Watch this space!
