Julia Robert’s beloved mum Betty Lou Bredemus has died aged 80, following a battle with lung cancer.
Betty passed away on Thursday morning at St John’s Health Centre in Santa Monica, California.
The sad news comes just a year after Julia’s half-sister Nancy committed suicide. Betty moved into Julia’s home not long after Nancy’s death.
Betty was mother to four children Eric Roberts, 58, Julia, 47, Lisa Gillan, 49, and Nancy Motes, 37.
She was also grandmother to Julia’s three children Hazel and twin boys Phinnaeus and Henry as well as Eric’s daughter actress Emma Roberts.
Julia had previously said the first time she realised she was famous was when she was with her mum and someone recognised her.
“The first time I felt famous was when I went to the movies with my mom,” Julia told PEOPLE in 2002.
