Fans mourn the loss of Jared Leto’s beautiful locks and beard.
The now short-haired and clean-shaven actor had to part ways with his famous long hair and beard for his upcoming role in the film adaptation of DC Comics’ Suicide Squad.
Jared, along with his director, David Ayer, teased fans on both Instagram and Twitter about the fate of his hair.
David shared a black and white picture of him holding Jared’s ponytail, captioned, “Should we? #SuicideSquad”, which started rumours flying.
The star began dropping hints of the impending chop, posting a very cheeky snap with the focus on his beard and hair with the caption “tick tock”.
The Suicide Squad director then shared a photo of Jared post-chop.
Fans were quick the share their disappointment over the now clean-shaven star.
“Hearts across the world are breaking #hairmageddon” posted @benefitbeauty.
“Crying real tears” shared @nineah.
While others welcomed the new look, “The way he looks so clean and beautiful makes me forget my grief upon his hair” @lokid_hiddles said.
Jared took to Instagram to let fans know he was missing his beard, too.
This isn’t the first time he’s transformed himself for a role. Receiving an Oscar in Dallas Buyers Club for his portrayal of a transgender woman, the actor lost more than 13kg for the role and while filming, never broke character.
We can’t wait to see how he transforms for the role of Joker in David’s new film.
He may have big shoes to fill, with Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger both delivering career-defining moments with the character, but that won’t stop him from embracing the Joker.
“The opportunity to take on this nearly Shakespearean character – that’s what graphic novels and comic books are becoming, right? [He’s] this beautiful disaster of a character – what a big challenge.” Jared said.
Suicide Squad is set for a 2016 release and will co-star Will Smith and his Focus leading lady Margot Robbie.
Until then, let’s take a moment to remember Jarod’s beautiful ombre mane.
