Speaking to PEOPLE a representative for Janet Jackson and her husband Wissam Al Mana, 42, has confirmed that the pair have welcomed their first child, a son, on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
Bucking the latest Hollywood trend to keep a new baby’s name under wraps, the representative to the couple was quick to announce the world’s newest star.
The singer’s rep said in a statement: “Janet Jackson and husband Wissam Al Mana are thrilled to welcome their new son Eissa Al Mana into the world.”
“Janet had a stress-free healthy delivery and is resting comfortably.”
Rumours of Janet’s pregnancy began to swirl mid-2016 but it wasn’t until October that the star officaly confirmed the exciting baby news in a statement to PEOPLE.
“We thank God for our blessing,” the star said, accompanied by the first official shot of her burgeoning belly.
In the snap, Janet, who married the Qatari billionaire businessman in 2012, looks radiant as she proudly cradles her joy in a figure-hugging cream dress.
In April this year, the singer announced that she would be postponing her tour to start planning a family with her Dubai-based beau.
“We’re in the second leg of the tour and there actually has been a sudden change,” Janet explained in a video posted to Twitter on April 6.
“I thought it was important that you be the first to know. My husband and I are planning our family, so I’m going to have to delay the tour.”

“Please, if you could try and understand that it’s important that I do this now,” Michael Jackson’s sister asked of her fans.
“I have to rest up, doctor’s orders. But I have not forgotten about you. I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can.”
While Janet only confirmed her baby joy in October, her brother Toti accidentally let the news slip way back in June.
“Janet is very well pregnant,” he quipped in an interview on Sirius FM radio.
“She’s doing very well, taking it easy. As you know, she’s off tour, so she’s protecting her health.”
The starlet, who has a huge 27 nieces and nephews, has long spoken of her desire to welcome her own brood.
“I’d love to have a family. But really, it’s in God’s hands. So, if it’s meant to be, I’ll have one,” she told Access Hollywood, adding, “I hope it does.”
Congratulations to the NEW parents!
