She’s never been one to shy away from stirring the pot, but radio host Jackie O was forced to make an on-air apology this morning after remarks she made about Parramatta Eels player Kieran Foran.
The player has been in the media lately after splitting with his partner and mother to his two children, Rebecca Pope.
Jackie O made comments on KIIS 1065’s Kyle and Jackie O Show, questioning whether Kieran’s newborn baby Jordan was actually is.
This sparked the skipper to launch legal action against her and the radio network for her defamatory comments.
In a legal letter sent to the Australian Radio Network (ARN), it said suggestions Foran’s child was not his “gave imputation the former partner of (Foran) committed adultery during their relationship.”
According to Nine News, the letter continued: “That imputation is defamatory, completely false, untrue, and lacking any merit.”
“We are instructed to request that you submit a clear apology and retraction to Mr Kieran Foran and Ms Rebecca Pope.”
This morning, Jackie O opened up the radio program with co-host Kyle Sandilands saying that her comments about Foran were “really stupid”.
She said: “I gave voice to a really ugly rumour, and I just wanted to apologise because it was stupid to say what I said and it was really insensitive.”
“I don’t want to repeat this ugly rumour because that’s what it is, but I just want to take this time to personally apologise to Rebecca and Kieran for what I said. I can imagine how hurtful that would’ve been and I feel really terrible, I really do, and I’m truly sorry.”
“Despite what some people might think it’s not what I’m about on radio,” she continued.
“I have tried very hard in my career not to be hurtful, and that’s why I’m very sorry for any harm that I’ve caused.”
According to news.com.au, the ARN denied they’d received a legal letter, but were still sincerely apologetic all the same.
