While Instagram paints a very pretty picture of former Bachelorette Georgia Love’s life, there is a heart-breaking undertone that rears it’s head every so often.
Between the pictures of Georgia and her beau, Lee Elliot, fancy parties, pics of their cat (aptly named Pawdrey Hepburn), are images of her Mum, Belinda, who sadly passed away from pancreatic cancer two tears ago.
The Network Ten presenter took to Instagram on Monday, in tribute to her Mum to mark the time that has passed.
“Two years. And a lifetime more that have to be faced without you. I don’t know how I’m meant to do that when every day is still this hard,” she captioned the post.
In November 2016, just days after she had declared she had fallen in love with Lee on the the reality show, Belinda sadly lost her battle with cancer.
Taking to Instagram at the time, she wrote:
“There is so much more I need and want to share with you. I have no idea how to even begin to say goodbye. I love you, Mum, and will continue to every single day.”
“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart. I’ll stay there forever,” Georgia’s beautiful tribute concluded.
After the show wrapped and the finale had aired, Georgia’s new love, Lee, was finally able to meet Belinda.
“It meant a lot to me to be there, and I could see how much it meant to Georgia,” Lee told Woman’s Day.
“I feel so blessed. I wish our meeting had been in different circumstances, but that first moment was something that will stay with me forever.”
Though she had incredible support from Lee, it was a tough start to their new romance.
“It was really hard on him, and it was really hard on our relationship,” Georgia told Stacey June and Kristie Mercer for The Thinkergirls Pod Channel. “We had a very rocky first six months, and I’m not afraid to say that.”
Georgia has shared many tributes to her mum over the past few years – including a simple post of Belinda for her birthday on September 8.
“Happy Birthday Mummy”, she captioned the throwback pic.
And then for her very own birthday, Georgia threw a fabulous musical-themed 30th birthday bash and made it a blow-out bash to remember.
“I wanted to do something to celebrate my 30th given the roller coaster couple of years I’ve had,” Georgia told Now to Love in an exclusive chat.
“And [I] couldn’t have been happier with my celebrations,” she added. ” I was spoilt rotten and had the time of my life.”
“I’ve been a musical theatre tragic my whole life,” Georgia said. “And I absolutely love a dress up party so the two went hand-in-hand for planning my party.”
While we are sure to see more beautiful tributes from Georgia in the future, we are sending are thoughts her way during such an emotional time.
