One of Australia’s favourite daughters, Bindi Irwin, is following in her famous father’s footsteps in more ways than one – she has fallen irretrievably in love with an American.

Bindi has spoken exclusively to The Australian Women’s Weekly about the parallels between her life and her father’s and finding happiness with a wakeboard champion who her late Dad Steve would “love”.

“Ever since I was a little boy, I was running around the backyard in Florida catching little snakes, lizards and alligators,” Chandler says.

“I grew up outside, always jumping in the lake, always covered in mud.”

Chandler was raised in a small town outside of Tampa, Florida. A passionate animal lover, he admired the Irwin family and everything they stood for long before he met, and grew to love, Bindi.

It was his passion for wildlife that brought him to Australia Zoo where he first met Bindi.

“I believe there’s always someone for everyone and when you find that one, as we have found each other, it’s a real blessing and a privilege,” Bindi says.

“We all think Dad would have loved Chandler.”
