In a piece published in the UK’s The Mail on Sunday, 58 year-old American-born actress and artist Koo Stark said that allegations that the Prince slept with a teenager, whose complex court case claims that the convicted paedophile billionaire Jeffrey Epstein kept her as a sex slave for his high profile friends, were “lurid.”
Stark was compelled to defend the prince because he is “a good man,” and “tender, loving and caring”. His reputation, she writes, is “spilling across his life like blood from a new wound.”
Her relationship with the prince in the 1980s was intensely followed by the press and this is the first time that she has spoken publicly about their time together.
“I know too much about the media and the law courts to allow the disgrace of an innocent man,” she writes. “That is why I have decided to now reveal some of the details of my relationship with Andrew.”
Prince Andrew is godfather to Stark’s daughter.
Buckingham Palace have not commented on Stark’s remarks. It has stated previously that the allegations against Prince Andrew are “categorically untrue”.
The Prince spoke publicly about the allegations at an economic forum in Switzerland last month, where he emphatically denied the claims.
“Firstly I think I must, (and) want, for the record to refer to the events that have taken place in the last few weeks and I just wish to reiterate and to reaffirm the statements which have already been made on my behalf by Buckingham Palace,” he said at the time.
The royal family are standing behind the Duke of York – a photo that Prince Andrew took of the Queen with the Earl and Countess of Wessex was released to Facebook. He captioned the photo, “A family photo before we join the guests at my brother and sister-in-law’s joint 50th Birthday Reception at Buckingham Palace, to recognise the important work with their many organisations.”
The Queen has also promoted the Prince to the naval rank of Vice Admiral in recognition of his 55th birthday on February 19.
