Home and Away’s Emily Symons has announced that she is expecting a baby at the age of 45 with her partner Paul Jackson.
The Home and Away star is expecting her first child and is due to give birth in August – around her 46th birthday.
Emily and her radio executive partner Paul Jackson have undergone several rounds of IVF treatment before conceiving successfully.
She told the Daily Telegraph that she is ecstatic about the news, after nearly giving up hope, thinking it was impossible for her to conceive.
“I thought it would be impossible but it isn’t,” Emily said. “I’d given up really, I thought I had tried every avenue that was available to us. “
“My advice is to not give up if you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed by the whole process.”
Previous fails at conceiving after enduring the grueling IVF process lead to her marriage breakdown with husband Lorenzo Smith in 2005.
Emily first appeared on Home and Away in 1989 and has played the same character on and off for 26 years. Last year Emily’s character Marilyn Chambers got married to John in one of the show’s most anticipated episodes.
No word yet on real life wedding bells for Emily and Paul, but many congratulations to the couple on their happy news!
