It seems her friend’s warnings about disgraced doctor Andrew Wakefield have fallen on deaf ears, with reports Elle Macpherson is engaged to the controversial anti-vaccine campaigner.
The stunning 54-year-old was seen flashing a large diamond set in gold on her wedding ring finger as she arrived at Melbourne airport on November 2.
“It looked like an engagement ring and Elle seemed happy to be showing it off!” an insider tells Woman’s Day.
“Even though they’ve only been dating publicly for a few months, Elle is serious about Andrew and it wouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that knows them if they’re about to make it official.”
In 2010, Andrew, 61 – who is in the process of divorcing his wife Carmel – made headlines when he was banned from practising medicine in Britain after publishing a discredited study that falsely linked autism to the MMR vaccine.
“Not everyone approves of her choice in a partner,” adds the insider. “But Elle doesn’t care what anyone else thinks.”

After Wakefield published the controversial paper, vaccination levels dropped considerably in the UK (from about 90 per cent to 70 per cent), and there was a dangerous rise in the prevalence of measles and mumps.
The discredited former doctor has continued to stand by his claims, and although he is banned from practicing medicine in the UK, Wakefield has taken his anti-vaxx views to the United States.
He is also reportedly a supporter of Donald Trump.
