Fashion blogger Elle Ferguson’s engagement was shared with us the way much of her life is; online and with stunning photography. And while she and fiancé Joel Patfull’s romance is pretty much a fairytale IRL, the beauty exclusively tells OK! it almost didn’t happen!

The pair call Bondi home, living a typical beachy life.
Recalling her first date with Joel, Elle says “The short story is we met through friends. The funny thing is that Joel lived on my street before we met!” While the pair were living within 100 metres of each other and never crossed paths, fate intervened. “The universe makes you meet at the right time,” says Elle… or your mates do!
“I must have cancelled, like, four or five times!” says Elle. “You did cancel a lot,” Joel laughs.

“I didn’t play hard to get, but I had pushed off the dates,” she admits. “Then Joel sent me a text saying, ‘What are you doing?’ and I said, ‘I’m at home eating takeaway.’ And he said, ‘So am I. This is why we’re still single at the age that we’re at,'” she recalls. “When he said that I was like, ‘Pick me up tomorrow night at 7pm.'”
Their romance quickly blossomed and the two “knew from the get-go that this was something different and it was really real,” says Elle. “We both realise how lucky we are that we found each other.”
Stop guys, our hearts! Fast forward to Joel’s gorgeous proposal at their favourite beach – Wategos in Byron Bay – and the rest is history! “It’s so perfect,” Elle says of the ring her sister Lucie, of BabyAnything, created. It took a lot of planning, Joel admits. “Lucie had some great ideas. And Elle had dropped a few hints over the years of what she might like,” he says.
