MAFS star Ella Ding has revealed she hasn’t said “I love you” to a man and meant it for over a decade.
Speaking on her and Domenica Calarco’s Sit With Us podcast, Ella got refreshingly candid about her dating history pre-MAFS.
“I haven’t said I love you to a man in 11 years and meant it. And that makes me so, so sad because I love love. It’s all I’ve been chasing since before the show,” she said.
“As I’m getting older I’m starting to get more aware of it. Basically since high school I’ve had three serious – well three things with three different men.”
Ella said her first fling lasted three months, before dating a different man for five months.
“It gets to that point where I’m like, ‘I’m totally invested in you, I wanna date you, I wanna be with you in the future’,” she said.
“But [in past flings] we haven’t had that conversation of ‘are we exclusive? Are you seeing anyone else?’ and then we would have that chat and they’d say ‘I’m just not looking for anything right now’ and I’ve just invested three months. It’s a cop out.”
The 28-year-old said that as she’s gotten older, she’s realised men aren’t interested in women who actually want serious relationships.
“I know for a fact, when a guy meets me… I know that they – after a few dates – would see this girl is the real deal. I know that,” she said.
“I’m ready to give it my all and I’m not here for games and I think that when men pick up on that they’re like ‘I’m just looking for a fun time not a long-term thing.’
“They just want to have sex or have a girl for a couple of months. And I’m not that girl, I used to be that girl many years ago but now I’m so different and my dating pool is becoming so much smaller now because I’m not going to do that anymore.”
Ella was unsuccessfully paired with Mitch Eynaud on MAFS. The couple made it just a few weeks past the final vows.
After their breakup, Ella called Mitch an “enigma” and said he “doesn’t believe in monogamous relationships”.
“I’ve dated a lot of men, and I am good at reading people. I have never met anyone like Mitchell. He is wired so differently,” she said.
“His first thing was, ‘I don’t really believe in marriage.’ And I’m like, ‘Don’t I have a ring on and you read vows [to me]?'”
Ella added she was frustrated she was matched with Mitch in the first place, saying, “I went on the show not to meet another f–kboy. They gave me that on a silver platter”.
“If anything, Mitch has been the worst guy I’ve ever dated. The head f**kery … I’ve never experienced it before, and I’m still trying to figure it out.”
