The 41-year-old mum of three became teary when she started chatting about her children to fellow celebrities Lauren Brant and Maureen McCormick, revealing her youngest son suffered from a hearing impairment for the first two years of his life.

After visiting a doctor, Chrissie and her partner Chris Saville were told their son had 60 per cent hearing loss to both ears.

“He had delayed speech and he was hearing impaired for the first two years of his life and we didn’t know,” the 41-year-old mother of three said.

“He wasn’t talking — he wasn’t learning to talk. He wasn’t saying ‘mum’ or anything.”

After corrective surgery, four-year-old Kit is happy healthy and is now “talking perfectly”, with Chrissie saying the first time he heard her voice as “the most amazing thing”.

“When he came out of surgery… it was amazing because we just got used to him not hearing us at all. He was always lip reading and we didn’t realise.

“He was laying on me when he came out and I said something to me and he looked up at me and could hear it. It was amazing.

“I said to Chris ‘oh my God, he can hear me — he can hear what I’m saying!’”

Chrissie also opened up about her weight after fellow camper Andrew Daddo commented on her weight loss since being in the jungle.

Chrissie said a combination of work and looking after three small children had caused her to let herself go in recent years.

“This is the first year I’ve had in a long time, since I was 30, where I haven’t been locked into a job or had a newborn baby,” she said.

“It’s been a really crazy decade the craziest of all.”

Chrissie says she is now “desperate” to look after herself and plans to make this year ‘her year’.
