In the wake of Karl Stefanovicโs marriage split from partner of 21 years, Cassandra Thorburn, the Nine network have requested he take at least a month off over the Christmas break.
But Karl isnโt too concerned with his manager telling news.com.au, โI think any of us would be happy to take a holiday at the end of the year.โ
Meanwhile Nine news boss Darren Wick spoke to The Daily Telegraph about their decision, which will see Karl off our screens from November 26th, the end of ratings period.
โPreviously what weโve done with Karl is that he has often shot 60 Minutes stories over the summer,โ Darren explained.
โWe donโt want him doing that this year โ just have a break. Obviously what heโs working through with his family situationโฆ he needs to have a break and just rest and spend time with his family. Heโs going to do that and come back fresh next year.โ
Heโll certainly need his rest, with the Nine Upfronts announcing their jam-packed 2017 line-up.
They unveiled that Karl will be given a brandnew show, in addition to his work on Today.
This Time Next Year is based on its UK counterpart, and will โexamine everyday Australians achieving monumental personal goals โ whether they be overcoming a setback, falling in love or achieving a world record โ over the course of a year.โ

The Today gang seemed to have a fab time while their lead anchor Karl was working the grounds in New York for the upcoming election.
The Nine Upfronts also revealed more exciting news for 2017โฆ 60 minutes reporter Allison Langdon will become a mum!
The news was first reported back in August, and now the 37-year-old presenter has debuted her baby bump.
Allison debuted her growing baby bump in stunning black gown at the event.

Allison was joined by her 60 Minutes cast mates, Liz Hayes and Tara Brown.
The blonde beauty is yet to comment on her pregnancy, but sources close to her and husband, Mike Willesee Junior, have revealed that theyโre โover the moon.โ
In 2014, Allison admitted to Sunday Life that she and her husbandโs busy work schedules meant starting a family wasnโt achievable just yet.
โWeโve been married long enough that people have stopped asking about when weโre having babies. You have to see each other to make babies,โ the author revealed at the time.
We guess they found the time to see each other!

This will be the first child for Allison and her husband Mike, who tied the knot in 2008.
