Just last week Rob Lowe’s bizarre job ad seeking a personal assistant was leaked, and ooooh boy does he have some specific demands.
The list of requirements included to “never assume anything, ensure the client is fed and has coffee throughout the day, schedule haircuts every episode for client, and be able to lift up to 11kg.”
We have no idea what 11kg items Rob’s going to need lifting, but it’s hardly the worst thing a Hollywood assistant might have to do. From checking a star’s armpits for BO to sleeping in the same bed as their employer, continue on to read about 10 celebs who made their assistant’s jobs less than pleasant…

Mariah Carey
Mariah Carey is one of the world’s most notable divas, so it’s kind of unsurprising that in 2014 she was sued by Ylser Oliver: a former assistant of the singer who claimed she worked 16 hour days, 7 days a week, with no overtime pay or meal breaks.
More recently, in an episode of Carey’s new reality docu-series Mariah’s World, we see tour assistant Molly break down in tears when she can’t get the singer’s Apple TV working.
“The Apple TV is the most important thing for Ms MC. If she can’t have the Apple TV playing while she’s sleeping then she can’t sleep. If she can’t sleep, she can’t perform. If she can’t perform, there’s no show. If it’s not there everything else falls apart.”
Kylie Jenner
Kylie Jenner’s assistant Victoria recently revealed what it was like to work for the reality star in a video on her app.
In the beginning, Victoria says she was given the role of “house manager – making sure Kylie always had groceries and her cars were taken care of”.
However, now the two are much closer with the 24-year-old explaining “I’m always open. She’ll call me at 2am, I’ll answer. I don’t really have set hours. It’s pretty much whenever duty calls.”
Lady Gaga
In 2013 Lady Gaga reached a settlement with her former assistant Jennifer O’Neill who claimed that she was cheated out of her overtime wages.
Not only that, but O’Neill was also required to be “on-call” 24/7 and sleep in the same bed as Gaga when on tour, as she never had her own hotel room and had to still be available to Gaga throughout the night.
Taryn Manning
The Orange Is the New Black actress was ordered to stay away from her assistant in 2012 after allegedly punching and scratching the then 23-year-old.
Court documents claim Manning “slammed her head against the wall and floor” with her lawyer at the time brushing the incident off, saying “There are some personal issues… Disagreements that friends who spend every waking moment together have on occasion.”
Keri Hilson
Singer Keri Hilson is another notorious diva, but this story from her personal assistant takes the cake!
Hilson was involved in an altercation with her 2012 personal assistant after she had forgotten to remove a tag from her pants before she performed. A source at the scene leaked to Page Six that “Hilson lost it.”
She was screaming at her assistant for ‘not being able to do anything right.’ [She] railed that the assistant also forgot to ‘pack her eye drops and throat spray.’ ”
Christian Bale
Harrison Cheung, former assistant to the Batman actor, wrote a tell-all book about his time working for Bale.
The 2012 book claimed that “If Christian was away filming on location, I would take care of his five pets, along with stray possums in the backyard … I would do anything from sniffing Christian’s armpits for B.O. right before he hit the red carpet to making emergency sock-runs if Christian was all out of clean ones.”
Naomi Campbell
Rebecca White, the former personal assistant of the famously short-tempered supermodel Naomi Campbell has admitted that “She would intimidate and yell and gain her power by making people cry.”
Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan’s former assistant, Gavin Doyle, made revelations about his time working for the troubled actress on Twitter after she kicked him out of her car:
“After bailing you out last night I HOPE and PRAY you get the help you so desperately need.”
Madonna
In 2009, five of her staff walked out in one week: two personal assistants, two nannies, and one chauffeur.
One source claimed that she was ridiculously overbearing and made her staff work 24/7.
Britney Spears
Her PA Felicia Culotta worked for the singer for 9 years before quitting due to her 2007 breakdowns.
