The world’s fashion elite and celebrities turned out on Monday to say goodbye to fashion designer Oscar de la Renta.
Oscar, who died at the age of 82 last month, was well-respected and loved by his fellow designers, political figures and Hollywood stars.
Designers Valentino, Michael Kors, Donna Karan, Diane von Furstenberg and Tommy Hilfiger attended the memorial service at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
They were joined by Vogue editor, Anna Wintour; Australian actor Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-lee Furness; as well as Chelsea Clinton and supermodel Karlie Kloss.
Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in 1932, Oscar worked for Lanvin and Balmain. He became known for his luxury red carpet gowns and evening wear after dressing Jacqueline Kennedy in the ’60s.
His famous fashion house continues to thrive – most recently he designed Amal Alamuddin’s dress for her wedding to actor George Clooney.
