Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are officially speaking again, six months after shattering the world’s perception of true love.
“They are in a place where they can put anger or hurt aside to focus on their children and how they plan to co parent,” one source close to the actress told Us magazine. “It’s been a difficult time for Angelina, and both are now willing to move forward and begin the next chapters of their lives.”
The 41-year-old actress may have been the first to offer an olive branch but another insider says that Brad, 53, jumped at the opportunity because “he knows that’s what’s best for the kids.”
“They are only speaking about the kids, but have agreed that the kids’ best interest comes first and that they will be civil to one another,” the source added.
Angelina reportedly filed for divorce following a fight between Brad and their eldest child Maddox, while the family was aboard a private jet. Several reports have indicated that Brad was “verbally abusive” and became “physical” with the 15-year-old as the altercation slowly spiralled out of control.

In November, the Academy Award-winning actress released a statement confirming that her six children with Brad – Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne – would continue to live with her while Brad would only be granted “therapeutic visits.”
Despite the tumultuous circumstances, in a pre-taped interview recently aired on Good Morning America, the multihyphenate talent adamantly described her estranged husband as “a wonderful father.”
When quizzed by the show’s co-host, George Stephanopolous, as to whether she still thought Brad was a good parent, she said: “Of course, of course.”
“We will always be a family. Always.”
She added that the Jolie-Pitt brood are committed to focusing on the continued “health” of their family.
“We will be stronger when we come out of this because that’s what we’re determined to do as a family,” she explained, seemingly holding back tears.
We wish the Jolie-Pitt family all the very best.
