Former NRL star and The Footy Show co-host Beau Ryan can’t take his eyes off his childhood sweetheart and wife of four years Kara when Woman’s Day pay a visit to their home in Sydney.
As they kiss, cuddle and laugh their way through our photo shoot, the charismatic larrikin and his wife look like any other couple in love.
But today’s happy smiles are a stark contrast to the rift that rocked their relationship just six months ago.
Watch Beau address the scandal in the player below. Post continues after the video!
Last September, it was reported Beau had liaisons with former Hi-5 performer Lauren Brant when they starred together in the Sydney stage production Aladdin and his Wondrous Lamp last July.
“It was like my whole world just fell apart. I was just really upset and embarrassed and all I could think about was my family. I just wanted to make sure they were all right,” says Beau, 30, of the ensuing publicity storm.
Of course Kara was having an even tougher time. The 30-year-old was shocked by the sudden interest in her private life.
“It was overwhelming. I was upset and confused,” she admits, revealing that she chose to stay holed up at their family home, rather than face the public.
But while other women might have buckled under the pressure Kara, who shares three-year-old daughter Remi with her husband, was always determined to keep her family together.
“I know that Beau’s a good person. It’s not like he was this monster that I just couldn’t be around,” explains Kara, who runs her own business Whose Empire? and is currently focusing on youth work with charity Police Citizens Youth Clubs (PCYC).
“I was actually more worried for Beau, if I’m honest,” she says.
“He was still a very beautiful person and a loving father. The grass isn’t always greener, and while it was a difficult situation, running from anything in life is never the answer.”
