At the Sunday game against North Melbourne at Adelaide Oval, the recently-appointed captain showed off his leadership skills as he helped lead the way not just for the team, but for their mascot.

The pigtailed little girl who was serving as a mascot for the team that day became upset just seconds before she was due to lead the team onto the field after being spooked by the fireworks on the field.

It was as she was being comforted by her chaperone at the bottom of the race that towering Taylor – Tex, as he’s known – offered out his hand, and together they strode onto the field.

The adorable Adelaide Crows mascot looked rather teary at the bottom of the race.

Until a giant hand appeared, offering her some comfort!

At 194cm, goal-scoring machine Taylor, 24, intimidates plenty of the AFL’s best players on the field, but it seems that he had the opposite effect on the young Crows fan, who calmly wiped her tears away as they march onto the oval together.

The adorable mascot must have worked as quite the good-luck charm for the Crows too, as they downed North Melbourne by a massive 140 to 63.

Stride of Pride: Tex Walker and a comforted team mascot hit the field hand in hand!
