The exciting news was announced on Twitter by the athlete’s former sports agency PACE Sports Management.
“Congratulations to former PACE clients Sara & Steve Slattery and Jana Pittman on their new arrivals Cali Slattery and Emily Pittman,” the agency tweeted.
While the Australian Olympic Team’s twitter account also reached to send their best, writing: ‘Congratulations to @JanaPittman on the birth of her second child Emily, from all of the #ausolympicteam.’
Baby Emily joins Jana’s eldest, 7-year-old Cornelis, who is overjoyed about becoming a big brother.
The 32-year-old spoke to Woman’s Day exclusively last year about the joys of parenthood and the hurdles she faced to conceive again, which resulted in the runner turning to IVF.
“I feel extraordinarily lucky,” she said at the time.
“I can’t wait to meet my baby girl – she’s my little miracle!”
And Jana’s dream of having a second child certainly didn’t slow her down. Fairfax Media published a video of the Australian two-time world champion 400-metres hurdler running while she was 8 months pregnant.
Despite falling pregnant from an anonymous sperm donor when she was single following the breakdown of her marriage to fellow athlete Chris Rawlinson, the Sydney local has since found love with pro runner James Gurr.
‘With James beside me, I feel more confident about what lies ahead and whatever it is, I know we’ll cope,’ she told Woman’s Day last year.
A huge congratulations to Jana!
