You know those celebrity couples you totally forget about? Like Sandra Bullock and Ryan Gosling, or Nicole Kidman and Lenny Kravitz? (#NeverForget).
Well, we’re here to remind you of another romantic blast from the past … remember when MasterChef’s Andy Allen and Aussie actress Charlotte Best were an item?
Andy’s recent engagement to his girlfriend of four years, Alex Davey, reminded us of his long term relationship with Charlotte, who played Annie Campbell on Home and Away from 2007 to 2010, and has since gone on to star in TV shows including Puberty Blues and Netflix’s Tidelands, with Chris Hemsworth’s wife Elsa Pataky.
Andy and Charlotte dated for about two-three years from 2013, before calling it quits in 2016.
It’s unclear exactly what happened between the pair, but all traces of their relationship have been wiped from social media.
Charlotte has since gone on to date former Big Brother contestant Ryan Ginns, but the former couple have now split.
Andy and Charlotte were first set up on a blind date by friends.
“One of my best friends who was part of the crew on Home & Away also worked on MasterChef with Andy and thought we would get along well,” Charlotte told Elle in 2015.
Andy explained their first date didn’t exactly go to plan.
“It was the first time either of us had been on a proper date so we were a bit awkward at first, but then we actually ran into my best mates at [Sydney restaurant] Barrio Chino. They crashed the date and then we relaxed a bit more. We got along really well and were pretty much inseparable that summer.”
The pair lived together during their relationship, and Charlotte admitted she didn’t contribute greatly to the household cooking, with Andy doing most of the meal prep in their home.
“Andy definitely does all the cooking. I am really into baking healthy treats but I haven’t had to do anything else for so long now that I can’t even boil an egg properly. I’m very lucky having a chef in the house, but it’s a bit of a curse for my hips,” Charlotte said at the time.
“Charlotte has caused herself to be locked out of the kitchen on numerous occasions,” Andy joked.
“She’s hopeless. S–t hits the fan, literally. Char just bought me a pasta making machine, so I’d say my signature dish (at the moment), is pasta.”
Andy added that both he and Charlotte “are very family orientated, active, outdoor people so we spend most of our time with our family and friends or travelling.”
Now Andy has returned to MasterChef as a judge, after winning the title in 2012, and is happily engaged to his long term girlfriend Alex.
Earlier this week, he opened up about exactly how he proposed to his lady love, while the couple were on holiday in New Zealand.
“I was so scared about the ring going off in the scanner at the airport and having to drop down on one knee and propose in front of the security guards,” Andy told TV WEEK.

He revealed Alex didn’t recognise him when they first met, which seemed to work in her favour!
“When we met, she had no idea who I was,”Andy explained.
“We were both at a party just after I won and a few people were talking about it. She kept saying, ‘You won MasterChef?’ She thought it was a joke.”
And Andy says he does most of the cooking in his household.
“She’ll hate me saying this, but Alex flat out can’t cook,” he said.
“It’s very much a case of opposites attract on that front. Of course, we have the same morals and values, but she doesn’t cook.”
