Like millions of Aussies around the country yesterday, The Bachelor Australia 2016 winner Alex Nation couldn’t contain her joy over the nation voting yes to same-sex marriage.
The mother-of-one and her partner, chef Maegan Luxa, were in major celebration mode.
So much so, the pair both rung in a big milestone – officially confirming their romance by posting pictures of each other for the first time on their respective social media accounts.
Yep, after months of fevered speculation it’s insta official!
Maegan uploaded a beautiful black-and-white photo with 26-year-old Alex and her son Elijah beaming happily as they embrace, alongside a heartfelt message about their relationship and the historical day in the nation’s history books.
“These two absolutely melt me! Went to work with some extra zing in my step this morning! Probably the happiest person in the world today and everyday because I have these two amazing humans in my life,” the AFL player penned.
Alex was quick to respond, commenting under the photo: “My heart.”
Meanwhile Alex, who rose to fame after finding love with Richie Strahan on last year’s series of The Bachelor before they parted ways, shared a romantic sunset snap cuddling her love.
“Everywhere around the country, voices of the oppressed rang true. They were not silenced and love prevailed #onyastraya,” Alex said.
Maegan used a string of love-based emojis to respond.
One friend left a comment which could have been a subtle dig to Alex’s ex Richie, revealing: “I’m so happy you posted this sis, and I’m so proud of you ❤❤ Lux is the best thing to happen to you (besides Elijah of course).”

While others were just stoked to see the reality star happy.
“Love can no longer be silenced. I love this & you,” larni_w wrote.
“Such a cute couple,” a third fan said.
Alex opened up about falling for Maegan in a column for Kidspot, admitting she was caught off-guard at their connection.
“I’ve been in heterosexual relationships my whole life. I’ve had a child with a previous relationship. A woman caught me by surprise, out of nowhere. Initially, I was confused, scared even. I’m not anymore,” she shared in a heartfelt article for the website.
“Her soul is beautiful and mine recognised that. With this, I found strength, love and courage to be me. Mentally, emotionally and sexually. In fact it’s been one of the most empowering things I have ever done.”
Before revealing of the moment she learnt Australia voted yes: “I was completely overcome with emotion today when the announcement was made that yes won. I was in my lounge room on my own because my partner Maegan was at work and I was texting her the whole time.”
“I sent her a text message saying ‘yes’ with all different coloured love hearts and underneath it I said ‘I couldn’t be more happy to be a part of this journey with you.”
Although Alex and Richie never officially confirmed they’d split, they dropped a million not-so-subtle clues along the way and most recently, un-followed each other on social media which is pretty much the modern-day equivalent of releasing a joint statement.
Richie is yet to comment on Alex’s new romance and appears to still be single.
