Adele is on her final leg of her multi-country, worldwide tour for her latest album 25, but now the singer has called it quits – when it comes to touring anyway.
Adele left a handwritten note buried inside the programme for fans, delivering the heartbreaking news to the record-breaking crowd of 98,000 people at Wembley Stadium in London.
The note reads:
“So this is it.
After 15 months on the road and 18 months of 25 we are at the end. We have taken this tour across UK + Ireland, throughout Europe, all over America and I finally got to go to Australia and New Zealand too. Touring is a peculiar thing, it doesn’t suit me particularly well. I’m a real homebody and I get so much joy in the small things. Plus I’m dramatic and have a terrible history of touring. Until now that is! I’ve done 119 shows and these last 4 will take me up to 123, it has been hard but an absolute thrill and pleasure to have done. I only ever did this tour for you and to hopefully have an impact on you the way that some of my favourite artists have had on me life. And I wanted my final shows to be in London because I don’t know if I’ll ever tour again and so I want my last time to be at home.
Thank you for coming, for all of your ridiculous love and kindness.
I will remember all of this for the rest of my life.
I love you. Goodnight for now”
Speaking to the crowd, Adele elaborated further on her love of music and assured there will be another album in the future: “I will always write music and I will always put it out. And I hope that you’re always here.”
“I might never see you again at a live show. Who knows? But I will remember this for the rest of my life.”
The Sun reports Adele did not hold back during her performance, and was seemingly still keen to hold on to her record for the most swearing during a show.
“So today is the beginning of the end because I only have four shows left. Don’t you f***ing boo me.”
Adele also revealed that after she retires from touring, she is looking forward to spending more time with her son.
“As of Monday morning I am solely a mum. That’s all I’m going to be doing. And I can’t f***ing wait. I’m so excited.”
As her lasting image, Adele made an emotion plea for fans to donate money to support the Grenfell Tower fire victims.
“Listen, a glass of wine here costs more than what I’m asking you to donate.”
And on that note, Adele leaves an unfillable void in our hearts.
