The 75th Golden Globe Awards are off to a seriously glamorous start with Hollywood’s elite sparkling their way down the red carpet at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.
Now that the frock watch is done and dusted, it’s time for the 2018 Golden Globes award ceremony.
Comedian and Late Night star Seth Meyers has stepped up as this year’s host, taking over from Jimmy Fallon who was last year’s leading man.
And it’s set to be one hell of a night as the entertainment industry still comes to terms with the tsunami of sexual harassment and assault claims in the aftermath of the Harvey Weinstein scandal.
“We’ve got a lot to talk about,” Seth promises.
Locally, Australian names like Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman and Margot Robbie have lead the charge for the 2018 Golden Globes nominations.
Nicole Kidman’s powerful portrayal as Celeste in HBO’s Big Little Lies, which has just been confirmed for a second season, has already seen her walk away with the best actress in a mini-series or TV movie award.
Meanwhile, our hearts melted when actress Catherine Zeta-Jones took to the stage with her 101-year-old father-in-law Kirk Douglas to present an award.
With so many award ceremonies about to kick off, you might be asking yourself what are the Golden Globes? Well, The Golden Globes honour the best talent in film and TV and are voted for by a top-secret panel made up on industry experts and journalists selected by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
They are considered the precursor to the Academy Awards and a good indication of who will take home the Oscar.

Oprah Winfrey’s impassioned acceptance speech for the Cecil B. DeMille award was seriously inspiring.
“It is not lost on me that, at this moment, there is some little girl watching as I become the first Black woman to be given the same award. It is an honour and it is a privilege to share the evening with all of them,” the 63-year-old said during her stirring speech.
