It was confirmed by Hello that her Majesty posed for a birthday portrait with her darling great-grandchildren, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

The last official photo with the Queen and her great-grandchildren occurred at Princess Charlotte’s christening.

The photos were taken at Windsor Castle on Monday, with the little tots parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge looking on.

A release date for the pics is yet to be confirmed, however royal spotters predict that it may happen on Queen Elizabeth’s actual birthday, which is on April 21.

While the day’s official photographer was Annie Leibovitz, it was Catherine who leaped at the opportunity to take her own photos.

We can just imagine how cheeky George and little Charlotte were with their Gan-Gan!

“Wills and Kate were with the children but as adoring parents rather than wanting to be in the pics themselves,” a royal source told The Sun.

“Annie was taking the official pictures but Kate took her own snaps for the family album. It was really cute!”

Adding, “The Queen loves her great-grandchildren and is very proud of them. The pictures will be a lovely way to mark a remarkable 90th birthday.”

Catherine is a keen shutterbug, sharing these stunning personal portraits of her star muses – her kids!

The sweet photoshoot comes shortly after the highly-anticipated documentary about Britain’s longest serving monarch, Our Queen at Ninety.

Catherine, 34, revealed that Prince William’s gran always leaves out gifts for Prince George and Princess Charlotte when they go to stay with her, adding that George calls his great-grandmother “Gan-Gan”.

“She always leaves a little gift or something in their room when we go and stay and that just shows her love for her family,” she gushed.

In her first official royal TV interview, Catherine went on to talk about her Queen’s kindness.

“I can remember being at Sandringham for the first time at Christmas and I was worried what to give the Queen as her Christmas present. And I was thinking, ‘Gosh! What shall I give her?'”

“And I thought back to perhaps what would I give my own grandparents. I thought I’ll make her something, which could have gone horribly wrong. I decided to make some – actually it was my granny’s recipe for chutney. And I was slightly worried about it,” she admitted.

“But I noticed the next day that it was on the table. And I think such a simple gesture went such a long way for me. I’ve noticed since that she’s done that on lots of occasions and I think it just shows her thoughtfulness really – her care in looking after everybody.”

The Queen was all smiles back in 2006 as she celebrated her 80th birthday. No doubt her 90th will be bigger and better!
