Scuba Princess: Catherine the Duchess of sport!

Over the weekend, Kensington Palace confirmed Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge has obtained her scuba diving licence, so we decided to look back at some of her sportiest moments.

Duchess, charity worker, mother, photographer and now advanced scuba diver! Yep, the Duchess of Cambridge’s talents truly are endless.

According to a new report from the UK’s The Telegraph, the mother to three-month-old Princess Charlotte and two-year-old Prince George has obtained her Professional Association of Diving Instructors Advanced Open Water Diver qualification and is thus able to dive 30 meters into the deep blue.

The sporty 33-year-old will now be able to join her husband, Prince William, in the water for couples’ sessions!

Wills has been an avid diver for years and is even the president of the British Sub-Aqua Club.

Kensington Palace confirmed the news to the publication, explaining: “Diving is something the Duchess very much enjoys, and the Duke of Cambridge, who is of course President of the BSAC, has said in the past that he is hopeful his children will become interested in the sport.”

In order to pass the exam, hopeful participants have to complete five gruelling dives and it’s believed Catherine obtained her credentials from a diving company in the Island of Mustique – a favourite holiday destination of the royal couple and the Middletons.

To celebrate we check out her sportiest moments, like the time she showed off her cricketing skills in Christchurch, New Zealand last year – in heels might we add!

The mother-of-two, pictured in both shots in 2012, loves hockey and isn’t afraid to roll up her sleeves and have a hit, not even a pair a sky-high boots will stop her!

During a speech when she visited her old school, St Andrews, in 2012, she explained: “It was while I was here at school that I realised my love of sport. Sport has been a huge part of my life, and I feel incredibly grateful for the opportunities I had to get outside and play in such wonderful open spaces – though sadly there was nothing quite as glamorous as this in my time!”

The 33-year-old’s ping pong concentration face was on point during a visit to London’s Bacon’s College in 2012.

Kate had the nation transfixed when she managed to run across Sydney’s Manly in a pair of wedges during the Cambridge’s official tour of Australia and New Zealand last year.

William and Kate share a friendly competitive streak, which came to the forefront in 2014 when they raced each other in Auckland Harbour- nothing like a bit of healthy competition!
