He was one of the breakout stars on Married At First Sight, but now Cam Merchant could be about to pivot from reality TV to drama and join the cast of popular Aussie soap Home And Away.
The father-to-be, whose wife Jules Robinson is currently expecting the couple’s first child, posted several cryptic videos from the set of the Channel Seven show to his Instagram Stories on Thursday, leading to speculation that he could become Summer Bay’s newest resident.
Cam uploaded three videos from the set of Home And Away and seemed to suggest he was about to be a part of the show himself.
“It’s about to go down! On set @homeandaway,” Cam wrote on Instagram, while filming a fight scene between police and several unidentified men.
Then in another video, Cam wrote: “Just got real … my [sic] roll coming up.”
It’s unclear if Cam accidentally made a typo in his post and intended to write “role”, referring to a possible acting role in the show.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Cam currently works for a sporting goods company, specialising in cricket.
The former professional cricket player has also become a budding influencer online, signing numerous sponsorship deals with brands including Campbell’s and Metamucil.
Since his time on MAFS, Cam has signed with a talent agency, which could hint that he is keen to pursue career opportunities outside cricket and the corporate field, instead trying his hand at a job in the entertainment industry.
Back in April, Cam’s wife Jules revealed she was pregnant with the couple’s first child together.
“We are having a baby! And we couldn’t be happier! I’m already so in love with my bump!” Jules wrote on Instagram at the time.

Filming resumed on Home And Away back in May, following a two-month hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.
But Channel Seven explained the show would be taking on a new framework and story lines, in order to protect the cast and crew from the virus.
“A range of measures will be in place to minimise risk for cast and crew, to be overseen by dedicated safety officers,” a Seven spokeswoman revealed at the time.
“The measures include temperature checks on arrival, increased hygiene practices and rigorous cleaning schedules.”
“Scripts will also be reworked to reduce close contact, in constant consultation with the cast and crew to ensure the health and safety of all.”
Home And Away is filmed at the Channel Seven studios in Eveleigh in Sydney’s inner west, and on location at Palm Beach in the north.
