Royal correspondent Gavin Grey says rumours the Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant are picking up steam, despite nothing being confirmed by the palace.
Bookies in the UK have suspended betting on Catherine’s second pregnancy, believing that an official announcement is imminent. The decision followed a flurry of online bets overnight.
“The bookies are rarely wrong – they seem to have a good inside source,” Gavin says. “One of the bookmakers of an online site said in the space of two hours they had a substantial number of bets that Kate was pregnant.”
Kensington Palace declined to comment on the speculation.
Earlier this month, the odds were 10-1 that the Duke and Duchess would announce in July that they were expecting baby number two. These odds were then slashed to even money before being shut down.
With the official word anticipated to come within weeks, bets have now turned to the name and sex of Catherine and William’s second child – the names Victoria and James the frontrunners.
