Baby Archie is celebrating a major milestone today, May 6 – his first birthday.
And instead of his mum Duchess Meghan and dad Prince Harry planning his biggest surprise, it seems fans have taken things into their own hands.
Taking to Twitter, fans have started a movement for Archie this month – very much unbeknownst to him.
The trending hashtag, called #ArchieDay began when fans started urging other Sussex fans to donate money to the pair’s favourite causes.
The causes were specifically aimed at organisations who were doing their bit to help during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Astoundingly, the trend alone has generated more than AUD$60,000 for the causes outlined – an effort the Sussexes would no doubt be incredibly humbled to hear.
Baby Archie has single-handedly raised funds for charity being completely none the wiser.
(Getty)The organiser of the fundraiser, university student Dani Trin, told Harper’s BAZAAR US how it all came together.
“I got a group of people from Twitter on a group chat and we made it happen. We never had a specific amount we hoped to hit.”
Dani continued: “Ultimately, we hoped to simply help the charities and raise awareness for the projects people are conducting to help children through this pandemic.”
The young royal is celebrating his birthday with his mum and dad from his new home city in Los Angeles, where the family quickly moved in late March just before flights were grounded.
It is understood the pair are hunting for a new home whilst there, and they have big plans when it comes to raising their son around the right people.
Earlier this week, it was revealed their ideal new home in Los Angeles would include a granny flat, likely for Archie’s grandmother, Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland, who also resides in the Californian city.
The young royal looks set to grow up in Meghan’s home city of Los Angeles.
(Getty)It is expected that a brand new photo will be released for baby Archie’s birthday – though not in the way we’ve become accustomed to seeing.
In recent years, the Cambridges have taken to sharing new images of their children on the eve of their birthdays, generally via Associated Press which is then filtered through thousands of media publications as the world revels in the new pictures.
But never shy of doing things a little differently, it looks like the Duke and Duchess have forgone the usual route and may choose another way to release the image.
