When speaking to a Daily Mail reporter he, explained how his marriage has affected his tennis, “I do think your personal life has an impact on your tennis.”

“If your private life is up and down and you’re thinking about what is going on back home then you aren’t solely focused on your job, but when things are good back home it’s so much easier when you’re on court.”

“It’s not necessarily marriage, it’s more having a stable relationship.”

Who is Andy Murray’s wife, Kim Sears?

She is no stranger to the tennis community. Kim is the daughter of retired tennis player, Nigel Sears.

He was the head of women’s tennis at the Lawn Tennis Association from 2006 to 2011 and coached many amazing players like AnaIvanovic, Amanda Coetzer and Daniela Hantuchová.

In 2015, Andy explained how her Dad’s career really helped Kim with handling a husband that’s not always there.

“She was used to being away from her dad a lot, and then also used to being around tennis as well. When we’re at the tournaments, she obviously has a good understanding of what it is that I’m doing.”

She is an extremely talented artist and has a website called Brushes and Paws where she shares her portraits.

“I can’t remember a time when I didn’t turn to either paints or pencils, as a means of release.” Kim told the Belfast Telegraph.

She’s very supportive of her husband and despite not liking being in the public eye, she never misses an opportunity to boast about him.

Andy is very open about home much he appreciates this, “There’s been a number of times in the last two years that I had stopped. I was like, ‘I don’t want to do this anymore.'”

“But Kim, she was always trying to keep me going, and trying to help get me back on the court, stay motivated, and always happy for me to go and train and go away and stuff.” Andy told The Telegraph.

“Like going away for training blocks in Miami after a really long year and things like that. It might not seem like much but we don’t get to see each other all of the time and it does make a big difference when you don’t have that, like, drama in your personal life and lots of things going on away from the court.”

“She has been brilliant like that, allowed me to pursue my career and been unbelievably supportive of me doing that, so I’ve been very lucky.”

It’s safe to say Kim took over the wedding planning. In an interview with the Telegraph, Any explained, “Kim’s been pretty much doing it. I’ve tried to help out when she has asked, but I haven’t been over-involved.”

He did help out in some sense, “I did all the food and cake tasting which I really enjoyed, although I didn’t think I was going to.”

Their business together

The couple bought a hotel together in 2013, the Cromlix. The five-star hotel is located in Perthshire, Scotland and was even the venue for their wedding.

Originally the estate was a private home before the couple transformed the Victorian mansion into a 15-bedroom-hotel featuring a chapel and ‘it’s own house loch’.

The hotel is currently under renovation and in January 2023, Kim wrote, “This is very much a family affair and I am delighted to be getting involved in overseeing this makeover (selecting wallpapers, toiletries, logos and everything in between!) so that Cromlix becomes more reflective of our personal tastes and attitudes.”
