From blood facials and actual gold face masks to snail mucous moisturisers – there are some very interesting skincare products out on the market these days.
But out of all of them, there’s one really unexpected one we can’t quite get past – and that’s because it’s a tried and true personal favourite from the Queen of beauty herself – Meghan Markle.
There’s no denying her glowy features, which are enviable to beauty fanatics the world over. But her reason for sustaining said features has absolutely stumped us this time.
And that’s because her secret, it appears, is porridge.
Yep, you read that one right – the Duchess of Sussex is a sucker for a home made face mask that includes ingredients you can get for under $10 at Coles.
The Sun reported Meghan whips up a concoction of honey, porridge oats and coconut oil to exfoliate her skin. She also brightens her complexion by adding turmeric to the paste.
The Duchess looks to skincare guru Nicola Joss who told the publication: “At-home face masks are amazing, and I fully endorse them. They’re easy, free, and you have full control of the ingredients you’re putting on your skin — which is why most of my clients love them.”

So how does one create this surprising concoction? Lucky for us, it’s as straightforward as its ingredients.
Nicola explained that adding coconut oil to the porridge and honey will create a paste-like consistency, while adding turmeric will boost and brighten your skin.
And as for spot treatment, Meghan’s personal favourite is no less than $7 – an Australian tea tree oil from Thursday Plantation.
In a previous interview, Meghan revealed that it’s her cure-all hack when it comes to soothing her skin.
“It’s not the most glamorous thing, but if you get a cut, a mosquito bite, a small breakout, no matter what it is, it’s my little cure-all,” she said.
“It’s inexpensive, it’s small enough to carry on, and I bring it with me all the time.”
Meghan also previously revealed her favourtie body lotion is cheaper than $5.
Speaking to Beauty Banter before she married Prince Harry, Meghan gushed about NIVEA Q10 Firming Body Lotion, which she uses “religiously”.
“It’s honestly my favourite lotion on the market, it’s so affordable, and makes my skin look and feel amazing. I would buy a case of this at a time if I could find it,” she said.
Furthermore, Meghan’s wedding day makeup artist has also been happy to divulge her beauty secrets.
Speaking to Fashionista, Daniel Martin, who is a great friend of Meghans’, revealed that her glowy skin is down to drinking lots of water and using water-based moisturisers especially ones including hyaluronic acid.
“So much of it is about hydration. She’s good about drinking lots of water and taking care of herself,” he said.
