When Nicole Kidman took to Instagram, as many celebrities did, for another COVID-induced virtual red carpet, the actress absolutely stunned fans.

Posing in her yard, Nic donned a romantic floor-length gown from the Giorgio Armani Privé Spring/Summer 2021 collection.

The long-sleeve dress, which featured a nude tulle embellished with intricate crystal beading, was, to put it simply, dazzling.

“Backyard Photoshoot for the #SAGAwards tonight ✨ ,” she captioned the post. ‘Thank you to all of my fellow actors for this so appreciated acknowledgment, and thank you @GiorgioArmani for the dress. Love to you all! xx.”

While we ourselves have almost no use for such a statement piece, there was one part of Nicole’s outfit that we’ll be emulating frequently: her hairdo.

The 53-year-old opted to wear her locks in a simple side braid with loosely waved pieces framing her face.

A side braid is a favourite of Nic’s, seen here at the 2018 AACTAs.

The effortlessly chic choice in style is easily mimmicked, and as Nic makes a case for, can be worn from the office to the bar and, of course, even a red carpet event.

Aside from how easy this fishtail-style braid is to pull together (a quick 5-10 minutes should do the trick) it’s also the perfect do for in between washes.

In fact, a little oil and dry shampoo works best to give your hair grip and shape when styling.

Don’t forget to pull a few loose pieces to frame the face.

Like Nic, we advise using a clear elastic at the end for a cleaner finish.

The real trick to nailing the loose effortless look is pulling sections from the middle outward once the braid is finished and secured with an elastic.
