New Dove campaign targets selfie-obsessed girls

No likes needed

Skincare company Dove are all about promoting women’s self-esteem and confidence, and now they want to let younger girls know they needn’t evaluate their beauty based on how many ‘likes’ their selfies get on social media.

According to Dove U.K.’s #NoLikesNeeded campaign video, more than 1 million girls in the U.K. have low body confidence.

“Six in 10 girls are telling us they feel prettier online than in real life. They feel prettier when they get ‘likes,’ but feel bad if they don’t, and so they chase more ‘likes.’”

But now, as a part of their [Self-Esteem Project]( http://selfesteem.dove.co.uk/ |target=”_blank ”), Dove wants to change that by encouraging young women to post selfies on social media with the hashtag #NoLikesNeeded

“We want to help girls find beauty [and] confidence in themselves,” says Dove. “The only ‘like’ that counts is your own.”
