They’re about to move out of the White House and it seems Michelle Obama has opted for a new hairstyle as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her life.
On December 1, the First Lady showed off her sleek long bob at the 94th annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, which was held at the President’s Park in Washington, DC.
Michelle’s hairdresser Johnny Wright proudly posted a snap of her new look on Instagram, revealing the 52-year-old was keen on a poker-straight, blunt chop.
Johnny has previously revealed that the FLOTUS loves to mix up her looks.
Speaking of her bangs, which she rocked briefly in 2013, Johnny told beauty site The Lady Loves Couture: “The story around the First Lady’s bangs is that it was just time for a shift. We had just ended a very intense campaign year and, with textured hair, putting heat on it everyday makes it break.”
“We had put so much heat on her hair over time, her bangs were a protective style as well.”
“We are often on the same accord when it’s time for a change, but there are times when it can be challenging getting her to open up to a new style. So, I treat her like I treat all of my clients. I take a really professional approach and create a storyboard of looks I want to create,” Johnny mused.
Meanwhile at the Obama’s final Christmas tree get together, President Barack Obama took the opportunity to thank the nation for their support.
“This is the 94th time that Americans have gathered to light our national tree… It’s the eighth and final time for our family. Before we leave tonight, I just want to express what an incredible honour it has been to serve this nation,” the President began.
“To feel its warmth, to feel its generosity and our family has been awed by America’s goodness. Most of all, it has been so special to share these eight years with all of you.”
“On behalf of Michelle and Malia and Sasha, grandma, [our dogs] Bo and Sunny – merry Christmas everybody!”
After Barack’s official retirement from his eight-year presidency, the Obamas will be moving into a spectacular Washington property that sits on 8,200 square-feet.
The eight bedroom and nine-and-a half bedroom manor was sold in May 2014 for $USD5 million, and will house the entire family up until 2017 when daughter Malia will head to Harvard.
