Model and actress Jerry Hall has criticised women who get plastic surgery, calling them “pathetic, insecure creatures”.
The 58-year-old who carved a successful career from her beauty spoke to Hello! magazine about her dislike of cosmetic procedures.
“It’s so idiotic when [women] risk their lives to have surgery. Every time you have anaesthesia you’re killing a lot of brain cells – why would you do that? You could get infections, you could die,” she said.
“Why make yourself look a grotesque caricature of yourself? They don’t fool anyone. They look like pathetic, insecure creatures. I loathe the whole thing,” she added.
The former wife of Rolling Stones singer, Mick Jagger, said she understood the pressure on women in the entertainment industry to conform to Hollywood’s ideal of beauty, but couldn’t comprehend what would drive other women to go under the knife.
“If men want to leave their wife for a 19-year-old, they’re gonna do it anyway,” she said. “All the facelifts and botox in the world isn’t going to change that guy, you know?”
Jerry and Mick have four children together – Elizabeth, James, Georgia May and Gabriel.
