How to get the sophisticated red carpet look

Rachael Taylor and Nicole Kidman

Bold lips, thick brows, metallic eye shadow … it’s easy for you to get the red carpet looks of your favourite stars with these professional tips.

Rachael Brook, Beauty Director for the Priceline Pharmacy 30 Days of Fashion & Beauty, has given us the inside scoop on how to recreate some of the best make-up and beauty looks.

From Elle MacPherson’s beach wave hair to Sandra Bullock’s smokey eyes, this guide will help you achieve your desired look.

Elle MacPherson’s beach wave hair … take advantage of your salty hair after the beach by applying some OGX Kuki Oil through the ends of your hair to reduce flyaways before plaiting your hair. Once your hair has dried, take the plaits out and separate with your fingers. This will leave your hair with the ultimate beach wave.

Sandra Bullock’s smoky eyes … a smoky eye is incredibly versatile and the colours used can be switched up to suit every season. For the warmer months, opt for golds and bronzes rather than heavy blacks and dark browns. Keep the inside of your eyes lighter and work your way into a darker colour on the outer 3rd of your eyelid. Line the inner waterline with a natural brown for a sexier look.

Rachael Taylor’s Metallic eye shadow … using a golden bronze metallic eye-shadow is a great way to make your eyes pop, working particularly well with blue and green eyes. Highlight the inner corners of your eyes with a silvery eggshell coloured shimmer, before applying your chosen metallic eye-shadow over your entire eyelid. Keep the eyes simple and finish with mascara.

Reese Witherspoon’s nude/natural face … for a natural make up look, focus on creating flawless skin. Use a dewy, liquid foundation and conceal under the eyes as well as any blemishes. Apply a cream colour to your cheeks and use a natural lip tint before applying mascara.

Jennifer Aniston’s bronze goddess look … bronzed skin is a beautiful look for spring and summer. Use a self tanner to keep your skin looked tanned and add a gold illuminator into your daily moisturiser to add that extra bronze glow. You can also use that gold illuminator to highlight the tops of your cheekbones for a beautiful shimmery, dewy look.

Julia Roberts’ glossy natural lip … a glossy natural lip is a great option to balance out a bold eye, or to keep your overall look fresh and natural. To create the illusion of fuller lips, apply the gloss to the centre of your lips only and apply an eggshell coloured highlighter to your Cupid’s Bow.

Nicole Kidman’s bold lips … sporting a bold lip is the perfect way to inject some colour into your spring and summer beauty routine. To stay on trend, try wearing matte pastel oranges or pinks and don’t forget to exfoliate and apply balm to your lips well before application.

Jennifer Connolly’s thick brows … the thicker your brows, the more youthful you look. That’s what I’ve been told, and I’m sticking with it. Brush up your eyebrows to find the gaps that need to be filled in. Make sure you keep the inner ends thicker before gently tapering into an arch on the outer 3rd of your eye, before completely thinning to a point on the outer ends.
